Money, Possibility and Soul

After the initial celebration of post-SPM, the 95's started to settle down. Most of them started to think about their future. Their academic path, career path, jobs bla bla bla.

So, they turn to the senior to aid them in their journey to self enlightenment. I was no exception as the 'senior who can help'

You know, I expect them to ask questions like:

"Biotech tu macam mana eh? Cam interesting je"
"Rasa-rasanya untuk cuti ni, aku nak kene buat apa?"
"Kalau nak target scholarship, apa yang aku kene tau?"

But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I rarely got these kind of questions. Instead, I got:

"Weyh, kerja Aerospace leh jadi kaya tak?"
"Forensik cam takde peluang perkerjaan je. Betul ke?"
"Aku tak minat medic, tapi gaji masyuk weyh maka aku ambik ar."

Personally, I've a strong dislike with these kind of questions. Why? Mostly because it's HIGHLY IRREVELANT

"Eh eh eh eh, cop Nazran. Ko nak cakap duit, gaji bagai tu tak penting? Mampus anak-anak aku makan timun setiap hari!"

Money? Salary? Wages?
Now think for a moment. What earns you money?
A job, correct?
Now, what determines the amount of money you get for the said job?
The quality of your work.

Now, ask yourself this. If you are given a job you strong dislike, let's say, being the guy who picks up elephant poo, will you do the job well?
...
...
...
I'm sure you'll not. Why? BECAUSE YOU FREAKING HATE THAT JOB

But hate is a strong word. I think the most suitable way to phrase it is 'Job that is not your passion'

Face it, everyone has their passion or something they really like to do. Some people like conversing and communicating with others while some like to lock themselves in a secluded room and work meticulously. You can't expect a shy person to go out and be a promoter, he or she will be the worst promoter ever. Same thing you can't expect a hyperactive person to code a 1000 line program, he would lose focus at the third line and screw everything up.

Now, for example, you're a kind of person who can't work under stress and clumsy too. Then, because of the money factor of becoming a Doctor, you decided to be one. But you're against your will. You hate the field of medicine but you do it for the money. However, you can't work under stress and very clumsy. Operations by operations, you screwed up, costing lives. Imagine how it will affect your self esteem, your career and ultimately, your life?

So, why freaking bother about money?

And another thing, why freaking bother about job opportunity?

Imagine there are 10 doctors and the hospital wants to hire only 2 doctors. Whatever you do, there will still be 2 empty spaces for doctors. How could change this? Well, if you're a good doctor, your chance of getting in is higher, true? So, be a good doctor and the job is yours.

Just like musicians. It's a field where people say : "Oh, tak leh buat duit ni" and "Heh, tak da chance nak dapat kerja" But passionate musicians hone their skills and they got a job (jobs actually) and money flowing in like a broken paip in Ukay Perdana.

Enough said, your responsibility is to be the best in a field/career you're in. Once you're the best, money and job opportunity come naturally. How to be the best? Well, start by picking a field you're passionate about

"Cop Nazran, camne nak tau field aku passionate ni?"

Well, read. Travel the world. Pray. Go deep into yourself.

Tedious task?

Trust me, I did that.
It was WORTH IT

Generasi Muda dan Pantang Larang

** Super special dedicated to 1994s blog. Haven't write any posts for a quite long time and I'm so so sorry. Here with a 'lepak' mode... let's read and enjoy! =)

Switch language
Maaf. Kali ni memang rojak sungguh. HAHAHA *ampun*

================

Assalamualaikum gentleman dan gadis-gadis jelita sekalian. *lambai tangan*

Mesti korang cam stress out dengan segala assignments, quizzes, tutorial and stuffs tambah-tambah yang programme yang heavy-heavy gitew walaupun on weekend. Takpe aku faham, zaman SPM tu semua dah berlalu, sekarang ni zaman nak step forward and never look back despite so many obstacles to wade through. Cuma satu je. Once kita dah ada atas satu landasan, no matter how hard it takes, we have to go through jugak tak kira sebab we are destined to be in that way.

Jom kita reverse masuk topik kita hari ni. Hehe. Perghhh. Kalau kena dekat orang yang cepat cuak tu, feh. Memang best.

  • Ni paling common. Bila dok dalam dapur, jangan nyanyi. Kalau tak dapat laki tua
Feh. Ni anak-anak dara yang agak-agak cun tu memang tak ah nak laki tua. Tambah yang boroi botak segala, memang bukan in the list.
Tapi tak boleh direct to the hand. At least korang kena letak atas satu permukaan untuk pass ke dia. Korang mesti cam wonder gila kan? Haa pantang kali ni orang tua-tua cakap nanti sahabat permainan dulu-dulu atau siapa-siapa yang kita eager sangat nak jumpak, tak terjumpak.
  • Makan jangan berubah-ubah tempat. Nanti kahwin ramai. Chait!
  • Jangan tunjuk pelangi guna tangan nanti tangan kudung :3
  • Jangan duduk atas bantal nanti bisul punggung.
  • Masa meniarap, kaki jangan angkat ke atas. Petanda mak/ayah cepat meninggal.
Aku selalu kena ugut dengan mak aku pasal ni. Tambah-tambah time aku tak sengaja terangkat kaki ke atas. Penderaan mental betul. Heh!
  • Jangan potong rambut sendiri. Orang tua-tua kata pendek umur!
  • Jangan jahit baju yang kita tengah pakai. Ibarat tengah jahit kain kapan orang mati.
  • Jangan biar pinggan lepas makan kering. At least kena jirus air sikit. Sama gak dengan kotak beras jangan biar beras habis tak terisi-isi. Semua tu ibarat rezeki datang banyak atau sikit (............)
  • Anak dara tak elok duduk tepi tangga tambah-tambah dekat beranda rumah, nanti rombongan lelaki yang nak datang meminang patah balik tak jadi.
Pasal ni erk... apa kata korang cari relation dia. HAHA
  • And.... jangan tangkap gambar 3 orang nanti salah seorang akan mati.

Sebenarnya aku tak sure lah sangat kenapa pantang larang ni wujud.

Well. Sharing is caring. Kalau ada lagi pertambahan pantang larang, kongsi lah sama kita semua dekat sini. Adios!

Preparing Ammunitions, Kevlar, Sniper Rifle and Helmet

Long time no see. Haven't blogged anything in 1994 for such a long time, and today I'll share with you few information, specifically written for SPM candidates of 2012 (batch '95). You may think that these are advices, as the mini codex to prepare yourself for the upcoming future as a college student.

Prepare Your Ammunition

Definition of "ammunition" according to the Unified Dictionary of NightlyArt, it is a kind of analogy for preparing the specific knowledge of your choice, e.g. the course that you decided to pursue in the tertiary degree.

Special agents, or soldiers always prepare their specific gun such as Glock, Sig Sauer, Nighthawk or whatsoever type of guns with the specific bullet, according to the type of mission, either hollow point or full metal jacket. In this case, you might need to refer to the newspapers or internet (Afterschool as the example). Bear in mind that you won't find any useful information about the public universities in newspaper. It is your task to venture into the internet, ask your seniors on Facebook or just refer to their blogs, and get yourself into some specific forum boards (ReCom as the example).

#Protips : Form a group of 10 (more or less), each of the team member will choose the certain specific universities of interest, and then Google for the answers for some certain specific information. Combine it, and then "sync" the final results with your school counsellor. Maybe they have some useful information in their databank to help you.

Prepare Your Sniper Rifle

Let say that you're done with the information gathering, proceed to the next step. In this step, like snipers, we are going to have definite target and resolute standing on what you'll do for the next phase, i.e. your tertiary stage of education.

It is not necessary for you to have only 1 final target. Having multiple targets may help you to plan few fallback options just in case something worst happened. Serving as the example, you're really interested to be a Pharmacist, but the road for you to be as a Pharmacist is closed due to few factors, you still have few backup plans. Stand up, and keep your pace steadily.

The same thing goes to the choices of university. Don't be afraid, because "once the student is ready, the teacher will come" - Buddha.

#Protips : Play Counter-Strike a lot, and you'll know which is the best. Is it Steyr Scout? Arctic Warfare Magnum? H&K? Hewhewhew.

Prepare Your Kevlar

Culture shock is something inevitable, and it happened to me too. Dealing with it will teach you a lot of things, and in fact, it is a tool to improve your thinking skill and maturity. Same as Kevlar, understanding the causes of the culture shock and also the "mechanism" to fight against the negativity of the society is like a type of defense, to ensure that bullets of social destruction won't degrade yourself.

Adequate knowledge in religion also required for Muslim students. Basic understanding about prayer, du'a and every crucial principles in Islam will help you to organize your life better, and also you'll have the tendency to score more in your exam for Foundation of Islamic Religion (hehehehe).

But please… Islam isn't something that you apply with your pen and liquid paper only, but it is something that you have to apply with your brain and muscles.

#Protips : 6 months of hiatus isn't short, and this is the golden time for you to learn about the fundamental teachings of Islam. Or else, learn more about the history of Islamic civilization, the age of Turki Ottoman empire, the Abbasid empire and also the Umayyad Caliphate. These are the important names, Google 'em:

Sultan Muhammad al-Fateh, Khalifah Harun ar-Rasyid, and Khalifah Umar Abdul Aziz. And also, the scholars such as al-Haitam (Alhazen), Ibnu Sina (Avicenna), al-Khawarizmi (Algaurizin) and many more, because they were the scientists that laid the foundation in science. Focus yourself on the age of Abbasid & the Ottoman Empire, and also their relation with European's renaissance.

For more fun, you might want to read about Thomas Alva Edison and Nikola Tesla.

Prepare Your Helmet

Helmet and Kevlar are quite the same things (and you can buy both of them by using 1 key command in Counter-Strike) but they protect the different parts of the body. By using the definition from the NightlyArt Unified Dictionary, helmet is something that protect your head, by adding an extra torture to your head - heat.

Yes, we're going to torture our mind here, hardwiring few things so we can calibrate to build new useful mindsettings. In this case, we are going to change a few small things only, such as:

a. At what time we should wake up
b. Fighting sleep deprivation
c. Dealing with mood swing
d. Grow a habit to read more and more
e. Speedreading
f. whatever necessary things that can be changed

Why do we need to change things that we are born with? Simple! There must be things, that if you change them, you can boost your productivity, or your life become more manageable, or you can bring more happiness.

Yes, first thing is you need to torture yourself to recalibrate innate attitude. In my case, I had hard time to make sure that I would read at least 5 pages of a self-help book everyday. But now, I can sprint through 10 pages in one go, 4 times a day.

#Protips : Start with Wikipedia, and all you need is to keep the momentum.

Final Worlds

To sum it up, prepare yourself necessarily. In the meantime, enjoy your holiday. Watching Anime or English series may help you with your vocab, or playing some online games may reduce your stress.

#Protips : Consider "The Mentalist". Now it runs on its season 5. Maybe it is a little bit hard to find the first season on the Net.

Straight A's : Is it THAT important?

Assalamualaikum and good day to you all!

This post is just my random thought to share with all of you juniors. As we all know, PMR result will be release this week, and soon, SPM and STPM follows up. Now my question is, how many A's are considered, important? Straight A's, a lot, less, no A's, just a mere pass? Sure, we all want to hold that slip, and be proud of the A's we got.

But, what IF, you don't get what you think you deserve? I remember the day when I get my SPM result, and almost cried my heart out in front of my friends. Owh, what a dreadful thing to read, when my expectation seems to be in a drench. I was so embarrass, I think I could just die. To think my result was that bad, is unacceptable, after those flying colours I got for UPSR and PMR.

Then, I went for lunch with friends. "8A's", "7A's" was all that I heard. My ears were burning. I thought I there was no hope for me. Then I got a wake-up call from my teachers. They said, my results wasn't so bad. Then they asked me what I want to be, and proudly I said, I want to be an Aircraft Engineer.

Keep in your mind, I still don't think I could make it. I applied for a lot of things, just to try my luck. UPU, Matriks, Private colleges, just basically anything. I even applied for TESL! (since I got an A+ for English and an A for 1119) Fast forward a couple of months, a very interesting results came on. I got accepted for everything I applied. Matriks, UNITEN and UPU. Owh, but UPU decided to change my course that I applied, which made me sad.

Decided to go for UNITEN, since I have a better chance of becoming an engineer there, I discovered an institute I knew existed, but overlooked it. UniKL MIAT. With the due date for the application almost close, I quickly filled the application form. After waiting and waiting, I was called for the interview and IQ test.

And now, I am proudly stating, I'm a student there. With MARA covering my fees, I'm greatly grateful for the supports I get from everyone. Owh, something I forgot to mention, MIAT is an institute providing course only, and only to become a License Aircraft Engineering  and Aviation Management. In the end, I get what I wanted.
*random pic of me in MIAT. Guess which 1 is me :3*

So kids, don't you worry too much about your results. Whatever you get, whatever it is, be sure to smartly handle your situation, go for what you want. There's always a way you can achieve your dream. OK?!

Assalamualaikum :)

The Thing About Passion

Remember the time when you ask your parents/family/friends about what course to take after SPM? The most common reply is

"Ko belajar apa yang ko minat"
"Follow your passion"
"Passion kene ada bro, kalau tak, susah"

But...

WHAT ABOUT PASSION???

You know it's freaking frustrating when you talk about PASSION. Really, what is PASSION? How would you define this PASSION? A strong emotional attachment? A subtle but continuous interest? The voice in your head saying "Yeah man, this is passion." like a blonde hippie high on weed?

Maybe yes, maybe no. The reality is: PASSION is THAT ABSTRACT. No single definition of Passion fits for everyone.

But I'm not here to define PASSION. I'm here to help you find it.

You see, the saddest person in this world is someone who has no passion. He or she lives life as it is without a sense of direction or drive because the absence of passion. That particular person find it hard to get up in the morning because every day is the same. Life in his or her eyes is grey and bland. Sad isn't it?

So, find your passion but HOW?

There are many ways to find it. But one thing for sure, you will need to work for it. That's right, no one can get his/her true passion just from a single moment of epiphany. You would need to go through multiple epiphanies and discoveries before the passion you seek appeared in front of your eyes.

Among the way is to immerse yourself into it.

Yes, go for it!

Find music interesting? Go learn an instrument
Find cooking interesting? Buy several cookbooks
Find physics interesting? Read ALL about it
Find a particular sports interesting? Don't stand around and go PLAY it!

Do what your heart says "Hey, this might be interesting. Give it a try." In this particular context, the 'leap before you think' mindset can be beneficial. Why? Because you don't know anything about what you will like, so just DO IT and see what happens. I did that with music and until now, it has been one of my passion.

Another way (actually, it is more of a supplement) is to do a particular activity/subject with all you got. Yes, most passion don't come easy. You would need to crack it down and taste the very core of it. Imagine how many people didn't find their passion because they give up before they could taste the sweetness of it all.

Talk to people! Your confused self is the worst person to listen. Go and talk to people. It doesn't need to be about your passion. Just talk. Who knows, that person could introduce you to your passion.

Simply enough, we would need to work your butts off to find your passion. And trust me, once you find it, your life would be really meaningful...

Why I'm confident to say that?

Because I found mine...
And if I didn't find it, I won't be writing this blog post.

Yes, my passion is writing
